Bangalorepedia is a City Wiki about the city of Bangalore, India and the surrounding area. It allows anyone visiting the site to make changes and additions to the articles. While allowing anyone to change articles might seem like a bad idea, the majority of people using the wiki care about the quality of its content. For a good example of wiki technology, check out Wikipedia, which is an extensive online encyclopedia maintained by people around the world. However, where Wikipedia is about global concepts, Bangalorepedia covers only information about Bangalore.

Similar to Open Source Software (like Linux), Bangalorepedia is created by the people and for the people. It is an example of how great something can be when we all work together on it. Bangalorepedia is not limited to any specific set of information such as historical, news, profiles, data sheets or surveys. It is all these things. It is an all encompasing plethora of information for a city in the 21st century.

Bangalorepedia started out of the desire for more information about Bangalore and its rich history and culture. After not being able to find better information about Bangalore on the Internet, Raghwendra decided to create a wiki in order to allow everyone to collaborate on an information resource for Bangalore. Within the first few days of its existance, people already started coming to the site and editing articles. It was then decided that the ValueBound Team would be formed to help guide the direction of the site and to ensure that it would be a useful resource and will last for years, if not decades to come.

Bangalorepedia was started in March, 2007 by Raghwendra & Neeraj. It is now managed by the ValueBound Team.
